Our timing is perfect, with the editor released just days ago we’re proud to officially release both our map database and our galaxy documentation.
Map Database
- Each map now has it’s own dedicated news section.
- BBCode is no longer accept in patch notes or SVN commits, instead you may now utilize the new rich text editor to manage the formatting of your post directly.
- The map database is now live, we’re starting with a clean slate and will be delete all old maps.
There are multiple minor tweaks made to many things throughout the site.
Webnet Web Site Updates
We’ve been working on some improvements around the site to better link various areas of content as well as improve the information we have available on the site. All of these changes are on SC-Source
General
- The homepage has changed to include a full list of the last 10 articles within each article section. We’ve also removed some widgets from this page that weren’t needed.
- All RSS links will now to go a subscription summary page which will list all of our RSS feeds, links to social networking sites, and a link to subscribe to email updates.
- All article widgets in the side bars will now show the number of comments
Articles
- Within each article section you will now see a list of authors
Member Screenshots
- You now have the ability to “Like” member screenshots. This feature is only available via SC-Source.com
Unit Database
- The database now supports multiple armor types. Mechanical/Biological are now stored as an armor type rather than a separate statistic.
- Each unit will now have a list of strengths/weaknesses at the bottom of the page which will go a step beyond the help offered by Blizzard within Starcraft 2. Any unit that has a damage bonus to a certain armor type will by default be strong against that unit. This list will be pruned/refined as we move forward and have a chance to go through it in more detail.
- When viewing a unit, you will now also see a list of the 5 most recent articles that pertain to that unit.
Webnet Web Site Updates
A few changes, but a lot of groundwork for what’s to come.
G-Source Account
- The G-Source ID you use to login will now be the email address associated with your account instead of your username. We’re implementing this change because email addresses are 100% unique and therefore increases account security because it is not displayed publicly anywhere.
Starcraft-Source.com
- There were multiple issues that are now resolved that were preventing proper data/images from displaying in the member screenshots gallery.
- The homepage has been redesigned to feature more of our content sections
- Our site search has been enhanced to show more useful information about what you’re searching for, give it a try and let us know what you think.
Forums
- When you’re logged in and viewing a thread, you’ll now have a small menu for each poster to view their profile, add to friends, or create a private thread. This is only available on the SC-Source forums.
This is a small update, at least for what we’re showing to the public right now.
Webnet Web Site Updates
We’ve been working on a few changes to SC-Source….
Forums
- The New Topic page and Edit Post pages now have the bbcode editor
Map Database
- Map versions now have the bbcode editor that has been on the forums
- When viewing a map, you can now report it via the Report link on the bottom of the map’s main page
- You can now view a list of the developer’s within a specified map via a link on the bottom of the map’s main page
A few other changes have been made including miscellaneous bug fixes. The meat of this update is a new feature set for the site that we’re not ready to announce yet.
Webnet Web Site Updates
The biggest problem with the G-Source network since the beginning was managing your login on each site. It’s become very cumbersome and discourages the use of more than one site. We’ve been investigating the best solution for this issue and believe we have the situation resolved. Because of the new functionality offered with the cross-site login we’re implementing a network bar across all of the sites within the network. This bar will give you quick access to your account. Only links within the site will carry your login, meaning if someone posts’ a link to Diablo-Source.com on the SC-Source forums then that link will not carry your login as it is missing a unique authentication key for your account. This update also includes various bug fixes throughout Gamer-Source.com and Starcraft-Source.com.
Starcraft-Source.com
- The forums will now include a bbcode editor which will aid in enhancing your news posts with bbcode and will also provide the ability to preview your posts. Once this has been live for a bit and we have a chance to iron out any issues with it we’ll include it on G-Source and D-Source as well.
- Now has a blue theme instead of teal/green
All of the network site’s login fields have been removed. You must now use the Login button on the network bar.
Webnet Web Site Updates
We’ve been working on stability and performance in preparation for beta….
Starcraft-Source.com
- We’ve made significant improvements to the server-side template system which now supports caching. This will decrease server processing and increasing performance and speed. This will mean that some parts of pages or in some cases the whole page are only reloaded every 30 seconds to 1 day depending on how dynamic the content is. These settings may require some tweaking, but it should significantly reduce our server load during peak times.
- We’ve installed Minify which compresses and caches CSS/JS files. This should resolve all issues relating to CSS/JS files not being updated when a site update is released.
- Numerous bugs/enhancements have been made
Webnet Web Site Updates
We’ve uploaded a patch which addresses numerous issues:
Starcraft-Source.com
- Author applications in Developer/Strategy sections now properly detect errors in the form
- A new promote page has been added which contains banners for members to use to advertise the site wherever they wish
- Avatars can now be properly uploaded
- Various other bug fixes/ehancements
Webnet Web Site Updates
The web sites are now properly pointing to their new home on our dedicated server. We’re doing a run through of the web sites to ensure everything’s running as it should. If you notice anything not functioning as it should please post it in the “Feedback and Suggestions” forum for that site so that we can look into it.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience with this transfer.
Webnet Web Site Updates
We will be switching to a dedicated server within the next week. Because we will be switching servers the DNS servers will need to resolve our domains to point to the new servers. Essentially what this means is that the site will be offline for 24 hours. Once we have setup the transition we will close posting in all areas of the site and any configurations made to your account will be lost. The entire network will become “read only” on the old server. Once the DNS servers are pointing to our new dedicated server you will once again have full access to all of our features. We apologize for this down time, but it’s very important to suffer this down time now rather than in the middle of beta, or just after release.
If you have any questions post them in reply to this post and we will answer your questions.
